✅ [SOLVED] Blurry Thumbnail Fix in XnView MP – Full Resolution Thumbnails Working Now!
Hey everyone,
I was facing an issue where thumbnails in XnView MP looked blurry or low-quality, even when the actual image was perfectly sharp. After trying many settings, I finally found a solution that works perfectly — so I’m sharing it here for anyone who’s struggling with the same issue.
🔧 Working Fix for XnView MP Thumbnail Quality:
Step-by-Step:
Open XnView MP
Go to:
Tools → Settings → Catalog
✅ Uncheck “Enable Catalog”
Close XnView MP completely.
Open the following file in Notepad:
C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\XnViewMP\xnview.ini
Find this line:
useEmbeddedThumb=true
and change it to:
useEmbeddedThumb=false
Save and close the .ini file.
Reopen XnView MP, then go to:
Tools → Settings → Browser → Thumbnail → Appearance
Set:
✅ Custom Thumbnail Size
Width: 512
Height: 512
Click OK, then close and restart XnView MP once again.
🎉 Result:
Now, thumbnails are crystal-clear and generated from the full image, not the embedded low-res preview. This solution made a huge difference for me!
